Meet Our Team

Director

Lindsay Holly, Ph.D.

Dr. Holly (she/her/hers) is an assistant professor of psychology at Marquette University and a licensed clinical psychologist. Broadly, Dr. Holly’s research aims to increase access and engagement with evidence-based interventions among youth and families, particularly those from traditionally underserved and marginalized backgrounds (e.g., racial/ethnic minority, low-income, rural). Grounded in developmental psychopathology and guided by cultural-contextual frameworks, she uses quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods to elucidate the role of parents in the development and treatment of youth mental health problems; improve the cultural appropriateness of evidence-based clinical practices; and increase accessibility to and relevance of mental health care for youth.

Dr. Holly received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Arizona State University in 2016 and completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Boston University’s Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders. She joined Marquette’s Department of Psychology as an Assistant Professor in 2019.

Graduate Students

Madeline Buchanan, M.S.

Madeline (she/her/hers) is a Clinical Psychology doctoral student at Marquette University. Madeline graduated from the University of Washington in 2017 with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Education, Learning, & Society. Prior to starting at Marquette, she worked as a clinic coordinator for a large mental health center serving the greater Seattle area and focused on delivering state-of-the-art, evidence-based psychological treatments. During her time at Marquette, she has worked with a vast array of clients in both the assessment and therapeutic setting. She recently finished her practicum placement at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Pediatric Neuropsychology and is currently a student intern at the Center for Behavioral Medicine delivering dialectical behavior therapy to adolescents and their parents or caregivers. Her research interests broadly include understanding barriers to treatment participation for youth and their families, particularly those who are often underrepresented and underserved, as well as the unique role of parents in youth mental health services. Focusing on parents’ beliefs about the etiology of youth mental health problems, her master’s thesis assessed how these attributions impact factors related to help-seeking and service utilization among racially/ethnically diverse parents. In her free time, Madeline enjoys biking and getting outdoors with her dog. Madeline is excited to continue working in the Child and Family Interventions Lab, and further address the challenges of accessing treatment among low-income and ethnic minority families.

After graduating, she worked as a research coordinator for the PTSD Treatment and Research Program at Case Western Reserve University, primarily overseeing a randomized controlled trial examining the efficacy of a lay-led, faith-based intervention tailored for Muslim refugees. Her research focuses on the role of parents in youth mental health service accessibility and engagement. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her dog, read, and Facetime with faraway friends and family. She is very excited to join the Child and Family Interventions Lab and to gain experience and knowledge related to her interests!
